Kittens typically require 3 sets of vaccinations, with the first set being done at 8 weeks of age. At this time, the FVRCP (Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis, Feline Calicivirus, Feline Panleukopenia) vaccination is due.
The following set of vaccinations is due at 12 weeks of age. At this time, the FVRCP (Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis, Feline Calicivirus, Feline Panleukopenia) vaccination will be repeated, in combination with the FeLV (Feline Leukemia) vaccination (in most cases). At Colborne Veterinary Clinic, we strongly recommend the FeLV vaccination if your cat goes outdoors as they are at risk of coming into contact with other cats that are at higher risk of exposure to FeLV. The FeLV vaccination can be opted out of if not desired.
To complete the kitten vaccination series, a 16-week vaccination appointment is required. At this time, the FVRCP (Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis, Feline Calicivirus, Feline Panleukopenia) with FeLV (Feline Leukemia) will be repeated once more, and your kitten will receive its Rabies vaccination.
**The Rabies vaccination is required by law.
